So long, thanks for all the fish

Just like the holiday, the week ended as quickly as it started. I spent most of today with my sister, which was nice. We started out the day going to Perkins for brunch. We got together with some of my sisters friends, who she has not hooked up with yet since getting back in town. Both of them she worked with at the animal clinic, one is now in vet school which is very cool and the other has moved on to other opportunities.

Later that day we went out to see another movie, Wolf Creek. This is a horror/thriller type movie based on three friends on a road trip in the middle of no-ware in Australia. They have car problems, someone helps them out, and that someone did not have the best intentions. Overall I thought it was a good movie. A bit slow start, but whenever I go to horror type movies I worry that is going to be the kind where guts are flying all over the place, I prefer the ones that have a good storyline and just make you think about whats going on. This was one of the thinking kinds.

After the movie I thought this was the last time I would see my sister as she is going home tomorrow, so it was real hard leaving. On my drive home, she calls and asks if she wants to get together some more. I did, but I did not want to hold her up, as she has a long drive tomorrow. We did end up getting together, just went out and talked for a hour or two which was nice. Made for a nice ending for her stay in town.

This week was one of the best weeks I had in a long time. It was nice being around my best friend, my sister and I had forgotten how fun it is to just get out and have fun. I have become so isolated over the past several years, and I had just gotten use to it, I have got to find a way to get out with my friends more.

X-mas

Monday, December 26th, 2005

It was a very nice Christmas, with my sister being in town and all. Christmas eve we went to my Aunt’s house, as we do normally on Christmas eve. Almost everyone was around except for one of my cousins and his wife, which was unfortunate. It was very nice seeing all of the family, as we do not get together very often (once or twice a year).

Christmas day we went to my fathers house, had Christmas dinner, opened presents, etc. It was a very hard shopping year for everyone it seemed. It was a very special and nice Christmas, as with my sister gone in school, we do not get together very often anymore.

Then Christmas was gone as quickly as it came…

Friends

This holiday season I am often reminded how nice it is having good friends. Yesterday afternoon after work, I hung out with a friend from work. We got a good walk in (man was it nice, 40 degrees in December in Minnesota), spent some time with her charming little son and husband, then did some x-mas shopping. It was fun just hanging out, chatting and whatnot.

In the evening, went over to hang out with some other friends (normal bad sci-fi movies) and it had been a week since we all got together last. Hanging out over there on a Thursday night, watching movies and sharing stories all evening was very enjoyable as well. Yesterday was just one of those days, that just was another example of how much my friends mean to me.

Sister visit

My sister snuck in to town on me!
She drove up from chambana, IL Sunday night, did not even tell me she was coming up so soon, was not expecting her to show up until Wednesday or Thursday.

I took a half day off work, so we went out to see a movie (Syrian or whatever it is, was an ok movie, but will wait for it to hit DVD before I see it again). A friend had some wild tickets available, so I figured this would be a great way to spend the evening. Went to the Wild game in the evening (they played the stars, and won) which was a blast. We then hung out at a bar and chatted until about 11:30pm. I must say that this was one of the more fun evenings I have had in quite some time. I had forgotten how fun it is to just get out, on top of that going out to a sports game (last time was a twins game like 10 years ago) then hang out and just socize. On top of that, hanging out of my sister. What a great evening!
