Walking trails

Well, quite a bit going on and I have not done a blog post in quite some time, so I am going to do several posts today….

Over the past month or so, I have been doing quite a bit of walking. Every time I go out, it is nice to find a new place to walk to, after awhile the city streets get a bit boring. What works out for me is that I live in a great area that is close to lots of stuff.

What I like to do in a evening is go down to the wood lake nature center in my city, Richfield.
On the Minnesota river, the Minnesota off-road cyclists club>maintains a nice trail in Bloomington on the Minnesota river bottoms. This is a nice trail to hit on the weekends when I have more time. Every time I made it a bit further in, and the trail can be accessed from several places.
Today I went down to the Fort Snelling State Park. Man is this just a wonderful area! I paid my $25 for the annual pass to any state park, and if the weather stays nice, man will it be worth it!

The area is very nicly wooded, right where the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers meet. Today I walked along the Mississippi on Pike’s island. My goal was to make it to the point where the two meet, but after 1.7 miles, and I was not there yet, I decided to turn back. We will see, another day I will make it.
